The Labor Government has been forced to back down on their planned $5,000 allied health cap for veterans.
After weeks of pressure from veterans and the Liberals, the Albanese Government finally came to their senses and have today opted to Scrap the Cap.
Under Labor’s proposal, those who wore our nation’s uniform with pride would have seen their services capped in order to find $748 million in savings to cover for Labor’s economic mismanagement.
Federal Member for Casey, Aaron Violi said it took the Government far too long to scrap the cap.
“The Liberals and I are proud to have stood shoulder to shoulder with veterans in calling on the Albanese Government to Scrap the Cap.
“I recently met in Parliament with the Coalition for Veterans’ Voices, a group of former Commandos, ex-Navy clearance divers, Air Force fighter pilots, doctors and allied health practitioners, who came to Canberra to advocate on how these changes would impact those who served.
“Our veterans served our nation with bravery and sacrifice. They shouldn’t have to come to Canberra begging for the care they deserve.
“Our community has a strong cohort of veterans who have worn Australia’s uniform throughout various conflicts. This back down by the Government is a win for every single one of them. Our veterans deserve to be able to access the healthcare supports they need.
