A Dutton Coalition Government will provide immediate cost-of-living relief for Australians by halving the fuel excise for 12 months.
Liberal Member for Casey, Aaron Violi said this is meaningful cost of living relief that will benefit local families and businesses.
“The excise cut will take 25 cents per litre off the price of fuel for all Australians.” Mr Violi said.
“For a household with one car filling up once a week, that’s a saving of $14 a week on average – or around $700 over 12 months.
“For a household with two cars filling-up once a week, that is a saving of $28 a week on average – or around $1,500 over 12 months.
“This is in stark contrast to Labor’s so called cost of living relief, that amounts to 70 cents a day in 15 months time.
“Local families are doing it tough. This will provide immediate, meaningful cost of living relief to take some of the pressure off the household budget.
“It will also benefit businesses, who will benefit from reduced cost pressures.
The ACCC will ensure that the fuel excise cut will be passed on in full to consumers.
It’s good for the household budget, good for business and good for our economy.
The Coalition will work with industry to ensure that heavy vehicle road users also benefit from this measure, and the ACCC will ensure the fuel excise cut will be passed on to consumers.
