Belgrave Recreation Reserve will receive $4.6 million towards the upgrade of the community hub and pavilion if the Liberals are elected at the next Federal Election.
Federal Member for Casey, Aaron Violi MP announced the commitment at Belgrave Recreation Reserve on Thursday 26 February 2025.
Mr Violi said he had been working with the Belgrave Football Netball Club, Belgrave Cricket Club, Belgrave Junior Football Club and Belgrave Men’s Shed on a petition to upgrade the pavilion which received strong community support.
“It’s exciting to see so much growth in women’s sport at Belgrave. The pavilion was built in 1950 and unfortunately doesn’t have the facilities required to encourage community to come together.
“This funding is a contribution towards an upgrade to the Belgrave Recreation Reserve pavilion, which could benefit from becoming an emergency resilience centre in the event of a disaster and loss of power, with space for the Belgrave Men’s Shed.
Secretary of Belgrave Cricket Club, Mel Davey said an upgrade would allow the clubs to continue developing their senior, men’s, women’s and junior programs.
“We are thrilled to get this commitment towards upgrading the pavilion. The clubs have worked really hard to fundraise in recent years because we know an upgraded pavilion will allow our Belgrave family to continue to grow.
“It’s been fantastic to welcome Aaron Violi MP to our club on many occasions and to see his strong support for women in sport and his passion for this community. We can’t thank him enough for his work securing this commitment.
