An elected Liberal Government will commit $100 million to restore the Cardinia and Yarra Ranges shires sealing the hills roads program which was callously cancelled by the Albanese Labor Government.
This funding will deliver stage one of the sealing of dirt residential roads across the Cardinia and Yarra Ranges which will provide improved access and safety for local families, tourists and emergency vehicles through the winter storm and peak bushfire seasons.
Federal Member for Casey, Aaron Violi MP, has been advocating for this funding to be reinstated ever since Labor ripped this vital funding from our community.
“The previous Liberal Government secured and delivered funds to seal dirt roads in the Yarra Ranges. In 2022, the Albanese Government cut this funding, broke their promise to seal roads and ripped away these vital funds from our community,” Mr Violi said.
“Every day, families across our region navigate dangerous unsealed roads, battling dust clouds, deep potholes and hazardous driving conditions. This reduces visibility, damages vehicles and is a danger to drivers, passengers and pedestrians alike.
“I am proud to announce this crucial funding to begin sealing our dirt road network and ensure we have safe local roads across our community,” Mr Violi said.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has raised this issue with me and signed my petition to get this vital road funding reinstated for the Yarra Ranges.
Only the Liberals have a plan to invest in our local communities and get Australia back on track.
